Tehran, Iran, Oct. 30 – At least half a dozen Iranian students were arrested on Tuesday while taking part in an anti-government protest on the campus of Tehran’s Allameh University.

Several hundred students gathered outside a faculty building on campus denouncing the recent government-orchestrated crackdown taking place inside Iranian universities, according to an eye-witness account. The protestors also called on the authorities to free fellow students who had been arrested during the past several months.

Students at the rally chanted, “Death to the dictator”, and added that members of the hard-line Bassij force, an off-shoot of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, should be expelled from campus.
