Just before International Women’s Day 2016, many prominent political and human rights figures attended a conference in Paris along with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi on Saturday, 27th February 2016. The topic was “Pledge for Parity: Women United against Islamic Fundamentalism”.

The event was a gathering of support for the fight towards parity. Many of the speakers concurred that the voice of women was essential in overcoming Islamic fundamentalism. Ranjana Kumari, Director of the Centre for Social Research in India and a leading figure in Indian politics said that women should be “encouraged to be at the forefront”.

Iran has impounded tens of thousands of cars since March because women inside the vehicles had not properly covered their hair with a headscarf, Tehran’s traffic police said Tuesday.

“Over the past eight months, more than 40,000 cases of bad hijab [headscarf] have been dealt with”, said Brig. Gen. Teymour Hosseini, quoted by the state-run ISNA news agency.

On Saturday, March 7, a grand event was held in Berlin titled “For Tolerance and Equality against Fundamentalism and Misogyny” in the light of International Women’s Day and the serious issues concerning women rights throughout the world. The gathering discussed, in detail, the danger posed by Islamic Fundamentalism to human rights in general and women rights particularly.

Crackdown of women in Iran

London, 6 Sep - Eleven months after the arrest of Nahid Gorji in Mashhad, northeastern Iran, and considering her decreasing psychological conditions while in detention, there is still no precise information about the status of her dossier and the charges raised against her, the main Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has reported.

Recent events have once again drawn attention to women’s rights abuses in Iran, a phenomenon that has been institutionalized in the very foundations and constitution of the clerical regime ruling the country since 1979. The recent spike in discrimination against women by the regime and regime-backed forces betrays Tehran’s fear of women, who are the driving force behind change in Iran and the fight against Islamic fundamentalism, the bedrock of the Iranian regime.
