London, 19 Dec - Even since Donald Trump decertified the Iran nuclear deal (aka Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA) in mid-October and asked Congress to decide whether to reimpose suspended sanctions, European leaders have lobbied American politicians in an effort to save the flawed deal.

The JCPOA came about because the world leaders who signed onto the pact (the US, the UK, France, Germany, China, and Russia) were either confused, naïve, or complacent about the dangers posed by the Iranian Regime.

Now, the world is facing grave threats from the Regime but those still in favour of the nuclear deal are refusing to recognise the dangers (and that the Regime’s malign behaviour is the result of decades of appeasement).

London, 7 Dec - US secretary of state Rex Tillerson said that pressure will continue to be applied to Iran over its nuclear deal commitments during a press conference in Brussels on Tuesday.

Tillerson was making a joint address with Frederica Mogherini, the European Union's high representative.

Tillerson said: "We discussed ... our joint efforts under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [JCPOA] to hold Iran fully compliant with the terms of that deal and fully enforce that agreement."

London, 29 Nov - Meetings between high-ranking officials from North Korea and Iran are raising concerns in the US government about the deep military ties between the two rogue nations.

The suspicious meetings began in August, when Kim Yong-Nam, North Korea's number two political leader and head of its legislature, visited Iran. Officially, he was attending the inauguration of President Hassan Rouhani, but the length of the visit and the size of his delegation set off alarm bells in the US.

London, 30 Nov - According to several reports, the Trump administration has put a block on the country buying nuclear material from Iran. The policy started during the previous administration and was a way of trying to ensure that Iran stays compliant with the 2015 nuclear deal.

Towards the end of 2016, the Obama administration announced that the United States was going to purchase $8 million dollars’ worth of heavy water from Iran to make sure that it stays in compliance with the terms of the nuclear deal that imposes restrictions on the amount of heavy water it can have.

London, 22 Nov - When Donald Trump refused to "recertify" Iran's compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal back in October, he received a lot of criticism from the other signatories (Europe, Russia, China) politicians in his own country and even those in his own administration, who saw this as hastening Iran's drive to develop nuclear weapons.

However, the nuclear pact wasn't much of a deterrent in the first place. It only deferred Iran from legally developing nuclear weapons for a matter of years. Critically, the nuclear deal did not prevent Iran’s development of ballistic weapons, which they have been eagerly developing and testing since then, and used to threaten other countries in the Middle East, specifically US allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia.
