London, 25 Oct - There is one clear winner in the Syrian Civil War, the Iran-backed Lebanese terror cell Hezbollah, which has made significant advances in its military capabilities.

This, along with the Iranian Regime’s destabilising efforts, poses a serious threat to stability and security of the Middle East. If the international community does not constrain this threat, they could soon be faced with a third Lebanon war, far worse than those that have come before.

Since the Second Lebanon War in 2006, Hezbollah, which now takes pride of place among Iran's terrorist proxy groups, has been vying to show itself as a feasible military force in Lebanon by suppressing the Lebanese people and infiltrating the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).

London, 24 Oct - US Vice President Mike Pence and National Security Advisor General H.R. McMaster both addressed a Washington D.C. ceremony on Monday, which marked the 34th anniversary of the attack on the US Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, and highlighted the Trump administration's commitment to defeating terrorism.

The 1983 attack, in which a suicide bomber drove a truck full of explosives in the barracks, was ordered by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in order to get the US to pull their Marines out of Lebanon.

In response, President Ronald Reagan ordered the USS New Jersey battleship, stationed off the Lebanese coast, to bombard the hills near Beirut.

London, 17 Oct - Just one day after the US Department of Treasury designated the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has made the bizarre claim that the IRGC represent all Iranians.

Zarif tweeted: “Today, Iranians--boys, girls, men, and women--are ALL IRGC; standing firm with those who defend us & the region against aggression & terror.”

This is, of course, completely untrue.

London, 21 Oct - The director of the CIA, Mike Pompeo, has spoken about the “open secret” regarding links between Iran and al-Qaeda during the Obama administration. Pompeo criticised the Obama administration for downplaying the relationship.

He said: “It’s an open secret and not classified information that there have been relationships, there are connections. There have been times the Iranians have worked alongside Qaeda.”

He indicated that the cooperation usually occurs when their hatred for the West comes to the forefront and he suggests that they have “cut deals so as not to come after each other”. He added that they believe the threat of the West is greater than the fight “along their ideological lines”.

London, 13 Oct - Nazanin Ratcliffe is a British citizen who worked as a project manager for the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s charitable section. As she attempted to board a plane to return home after a visit with her family in Iran, she and her infant daughter had their passports confiscated by Iranian authorities.

Ratcliffe is now in prison on charges such of orchestrating a “soft overthrow” of the Iranian government. Her trial was conducted without due and fair process.

The number of Westerners imprisoned in Iran has increased since the nuclear deal. The US State Department has acknowledged the increasing threat against Americans, and issued a travel warning in March, “Iran has continued to harass, arrest, and detain US citizens, in particular dual nationals.”
