ImageTehran, Iran, May 26 – At least 25 people were killed on Tuesday when a bus veered off a bridge in central Iran.

The accident occurred on a stretch of road from the holy city of Qom to the capital Tehran, state television said.

State media reported that 16 other people were injured in the crash.

Iran's highways are considered to be among the most dangerous in the world, with some 100,000 road-accident deaths occurring in the last five years, the equivalent of three deaths an hour.
