Tehran, Iran, Feb. 28 - Tunisia’s Energy Minister Afif Chelbi met Iran's Minister of Industries and Mines Ali Akbar Mehrabian in Tehran to discuss the expansion of industrial ties between the two countries, the state-run news agency Fars reported on Thursday.

Chelbi is currently heading a Tunisian delegation to Iran.

During the meeting, Chelbi indicated that the trade areas with potential for expansion included the automobile, food and construction material industries, Fars added.

Chelbi said that Tunis was keen to have an Iranian car manufacturing plant built in Tunisia.

Mehrabian proposed that the two countries jointly invest in a steel plant. Fars added that the offer was welcomed by Chelbi.
