Tehran, Iran, Dec. 23 – An Iranian cleric welcomed on Friday the execution by hanging of three men all in their twenties in the north-eastern town of Sabzevar.

Hojjatoleslam Gholam-Hossein Ebrahimi, the Friday prayers leader in the north-eastern city of Sabzevar, told worshippers that the sentences were carried out under Islamic law.

“This action was a great religious service and a prayer to the Almighty”, Ebrahimi said.

“Islam is a mixture of laws which once carried out bring bliss for the world and the day of judgement”, he added.

Two of the men, whose identities have not been made public, were aged 25, while the third man was 21 years old. They were hanged in public Tuesday morning.
