AFP: The US said today that Iran's missile program is a serious threat to the Middle East and US interests which is compounded significantly by its alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons.

AP: Iran said Tuesday its missiles now have a range of 2,000 kilometers (1,250 miles), a substantial extension of their previously declared range.
"Today we have the power to fire missiles to a range of 2,000 kilometers," former President Hashemi Rafsanjani said, according to a report by the official Islamic Republic News Agency.

AP: Iran is using Islamic religious organizations in Israel as a cover to run Israeli Arab agents in the country, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said yesterday. He did not elaborate.
Sharon's accusation came amid Israel's increasingly vocal concern over Iran's nuclear development program, which, Jerusalem says, is aimed at producing nuclear weapons. Iran denies the charge, saying it is intended for electricity generation.

Associated Press: An arsenal of rockets and three launchers were discovered in a shipment of imported scrap metal at an Indian steel factory, a news report said Friday, one day after a mysterious blast at the plant left 10 workers dead.
Initial reports said the explosion was caused by a burst boiler, but the Press Trust of India on Friday quoted police as saying it was triggered by rockets buried in the scrap.

AFP: Iran said Monday it was being deliberately ambiguous over its missile capability, currently a topic of intense speculation following fresh tests and the introduction of a "strategic" device.
On Saturday, Defence Minister Ali Shamkhani told state-run television that the Iranian army has taken delivery of a new "strategic missile" and that the weapon, unnamed for security reasons, was successfully tested last week.

THE WASHINGTON TIMES: Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld charged yesterday that Iran is fueling the deadly insurgency in Iraq with money and fighters.
But, in an interview with editors and reporters of The Washington Times, Mr. Rumsfeld acknowledged that the United  States has limited options because other nations are "not willing" to join in pressuring Iran, which has shown behavior that Mr. Rumsfeld said is "not part of the civilized world."

AFP: IRAN said today it was ready to show off a test of its improved Shahab-3 medium range missile, which is capable of hitting Israel, to "observers" in order to prove it is a success.
"The ministry is ready to organise a new test of the Shahab-3 missile in the presence of observers," Defence Minister Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said in a statement carried by the official news agency IRNA.

Iran Focus: Tehran, Aug 25 – A senior Iranian Defense Ministry official confirmed that contrary to the official announcement, the missile tested last week was a Shahab-4 and not simply an improved version of Shahab-3 missile, Iran Focus has learnt.
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said Defense Ministry experts described last week’s test as “an unprecedented success in Iran’s missile program.”

Associated Press: QUETTA, Pakistan - A suspected al-Qaida operative who was captured along with another man during raids in this southwestern city is an "explosives expert" who had arrived here from Iran, a security official said Thursday.
The suspects, an Egyptian named Sharif al-Misri and another man of Middle Eastern origin identified as Abdul Hakeem, were caught Sunday when Pakistani intelligence agents acting on a tip raided a home in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.
