Tehran, Iran, Sep. 13 – The supreme commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said Wednesday that his elite military organisation would adopt an aggressive strategy to face any forms of foreign threats.
“The IRGC’s ground force is a defensive force, however, if there is any foreign threat, its strategy will be offensive and it will strike deep into the strategic heartland of the enemies”, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi told military commanders in the southwest of the country. His remarks were reported by the state-run news agency Fars.
“The U.S., Britain, and the Zionist regime have been defeated in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Lebanon. If they think of showing aggression against another country, they will experience a greater defeat”, he said.
He called on the IRGC-affiliated Bassij force to develop a “correct understanding of the political and security situation of the country and the region and, while strengthening its fighting capabilities, prevent any form of domestic instability and possible aggression”.
