Tehran, Oct. 25 – The head of the coordination center of Iran’s security forces yesterday revealed that 1,152 murders have been recorded in the past six months.

Mohammad Rouyanian stated in his interview with ILNA, which was carried in today’s Etema’ad daily, that government statistics showed a general rise in murders recorded in that period.

Rouyanian also announced that from the start of the Iranian calendar 1,600 suicides were reported throughout the country.

Iran has the highest suicide count in the world and experts blame it on poverty and depression associated with government crackdown on the population.
