Iran has executed 57 prisoners last week, i.e. one every 3 hours.
On May 21 Iranian media reported that 14 prisoners were hanged as a group in Tehran. No details about their identities or the location of the executions were released.
Three other prisoners were hanged in Shiraz on that day and according to state-run media on May 20, another three prisoners were hanged in Sari and Sanandaj.
On May 17 three prisoners were hanged in Ardebil and two young men were hanged in Isfahan. A woman was among seven other prisoners who were hanged collectively in Kermanshah on May 15. Another man was reported hanged in Tehran on that same day.
According to reports by human rights activists at least 24 other prisoners have been secretly hanged by in Iran during the same period. Sixteen were hanged in a group execution in central Yazd city, including 4 women and 5 Afghan nationals. According to these reports another seven hangings took place in Rasht and one more in Kermanshah.
