TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An Iranian news agency is reporting that the country’s foreign ministry has summoned the Greek ambassador in protest of a human rights resolution by European Parliament.
The report Sunday by the semi-official Fars news agency says an official in the ministry called the resolution “uncalculated” and “against the interests” of both Iran and Europe. Greece is now heading the European Union.
On Thursday, the parliament reportedly passed a resolution expressing grave concern over the human rights situation in Iran, seeking the EU to include discussions about human rights in all of its interactions with Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif criticized the resolution Sunday, saying Iran will not accept any EU parliamentary delegation into the country with such an agenda.
In December, a European Parliament delegation visited Iran.
