Amnesty International: Imminent execution, Fatemeh Haghighat-Pajouh: Fatemeh Haghighat-Pajouh has reportedly been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband, who allegedly tried to rape her then 15 year old daughter from a previous marriage. She is reportedly at risk of imminent execution.
According to a 6 October report in the Iranian newspaper E’temad, Fatemeh Haghighat-Pajouh murdered her husband in 1997.

Compass: Concern is growing among Iran’s evangelical community for the safety of a pastor arrested four weeks ago
by the Iranian security police. Iranian authorities have refused to give any reason for the arrest and prolonged detention of Hamid Pourmand, 47, a lay pastor in the Assemblies of God Church. No one has been allowed contact with Pourmand since September 9, when he was arrested along with 85 other evangelical church leaders.

AP: Two Iranians have been sentenced to death for smuggling thousands of antiques to the United States, Europe and Asia, State-run Tehran radio reported Saturday.
Hossein Marashi, Iran's head of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization, said the men smuggled unique antiques found in Jiroft, the site of an ancient civilization dating back about 5,000 years in southern Iran's Kerman province, out of the country.

Iran Focus: Tehran, Oct. 5 – A young man was publicly hanged yesterday afternoon in the Robat square of Isfahan (central Iran) as his wife and child were forced to watch.
Mehrzad Vajebal-Hoghough, a 33 year old resident in Isfahan was accused of armed robbery and possession of 7
Kilograms of marijuana.

Voice of America: In the latest U.S. State Department report on religious freedom, Iran is again listed as one of the most serious violators. U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell says the report singles out eight countries of particular concern: "We are re-designating five countries that, in our judgment, continue to violate their citizens' religious liberty: Burma, China, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan. We are also adding three additional countries to this list: Eritrea, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam."

Iran Focus: Tehran, Oct. 1 - State Security Forces (SSF) in the town of Bukan, western Iran, raided several wedding ceremonies and arrested a number of young guests. The detained men have been charged with wearing ties.
