Iran nuclear deal

Iran Focus

London, 4 Dec - When U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States would pull out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or 2015 Iran nuclear deal as it is known, Iranian officials were very outspoken about what action Iran could take.

Many said that Iran will pull out of the agreement too, while others have said that the Islamic Republic would weight up the benefits and downsides of leaving before making a decision.

London, 27 Nov - A senior Iranian official has admitted that Iran now receives little benefit from the 2015 nuclear deal since the US reimposed sanctions on the country earlier this year, which means that sanctions are working.

Speaking at a seminar on Iran-EU cooperation held in Brussels, on Monday, November 26, Abbas Araqchi, the Islamic Republic's deputy foreign minister for political affairs, said: "The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is in a ‘critical situation’… This is a reality".

London, 14 Nov - A large number of documents, images and plans seized from Iran earlier this year indicate that Iran was far more advanced in its nuclear program than what intelligence agencies in the West thought. It appears that even the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had no idea of the extent of Iran’s activities.

When the United States announced that it was exiting the 2015 Iran nuclear deal earlier this year, Iranian officials warned President Donald Trump that Iran would also exit it.

US envoy Kenneth Ward told an annual meeting of the intergovernmental organization in The Hague on Thursday that the US is concerned that Iran is creating “central nervous system-acting chemicals” for offensive military use.
