Iranian people

Iran Focus

London, 20 Sep - The Iranian people are suffering one of the worst economic crises in living memory, with a falling currency, dramatic inflation, and returning US sanctions, all caused by the corruption and mismanagement of the Iranian rulers.

But while the Iranian people live in poverty, having lost jobs and houses, with some even flogging organs to pay for their children’s food and medicine, the children of the mullahs live in the lap of luxury and flaunt their ill-gotten wealth all over social media – websites that are banned in Iran for the ordinary people.

Millions of Iranian Children Deprived of Education

Iran Focus

London, 19 Sep - The Iranian regime spent the billions it benefited from the lifting of sanctions after implementation of the Iran Nuclear Deal on exporting terrorism and extremist ambitions. Those expenditures have affected the livelihoods of the people of Iran, and stolen its children’s future.

For example, Iran’s Ruydad news website published a report on September 14th, that revealed the educational conditions for Iranian children. According to this state-run website,“Like many other national statistics, the exact number of children who have been deprived of education is not available. The figures offered by the ministry education differs from that of the Well-being Organization. The Mardom-Nahad body and other NGOs also offer different information.”

MHP units

London, 11 Sep - Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad advocated for an ambitious housing project that has become a problem for Rouhani and his cabinet. In fact, Rouhani had singled out Mehr Housing project as being a major hurdle to Iran’s already faltering economy, in a televised speech that marked his first 100 days in office.

On Sunday, the deputy minister of Roads and Urban Development said that there are still 200,000 half-built Mehr Housing units across the country, with no buyers for at least 100,000 units. Ahmad Asghari Mehrabadi said that government hopes to encourage people to buy the units by removing any conditions or hurdles to applying for the ownership of the units.

How the Fall of Iran’s Currency Affects Ordinary people?

Iran Focus

London, 18 Sep - As the Iranian rial continues its decline, the US dollar reached an historic record high on Tuesday, September 4th, with an exchange rate of 150,000 rials to the dollar.

Long lines snake down the streets outside currency exchange offices in Tehran as panicked citizens try to exchange their rials for something, anything, else.

When SAIPA, the infamous vehicle made by an Iranian car manufacturer, launched an online pre-sale of 50,000 of its Pride models, six million people rushed to the website, buying out all 50,000 in less than a minute.

Increased Fuel Smuggling in Iran as Currency Plummets

Iran Focus

London, 7 Sep - Smuggling fuel is on the increase as prices soar inside and outside the country.

Iran’s rial has plummeted to a record-breaking 140,000 against the U.S. dollar. The rial has lost about 72% of its value since September 2017, but subsidized fuel prices remained unchanged.

Today, gasoline prices in Iran are approximately 10 cents per liter, while in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Iraq gasoline is six to 10 times more expensive. Smuggling gasoline is therefore quite lucrative.
