Iran-India-U.S.-oil-export

Iran Focus

London, 7 August - U.S. President Donald Trump announced in May that the United States is formally exiting the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Not long later, the U.S. State Department announced that it expected foreign countries to reduce their imports of Iranian oil to zero. At the time, it said that no waivers would be issued, but after seeing the effect the announcement made on the oil prices, it backtracked and said that some waivers would be considered.

However, it remained adamant that the Trump administration was keeping its hard-line stance against Iran in place.

Free fall of Iran economy

Iran Focus

London, 4 August - The incoming US sanctions against Iran could break the Regime, which is already facing mass protests over a failing economy, a plummeting rial, and poor livelihoods from its people.

Starting on Monday, August 6, all companies and government bodies across the world will be prevented from using the US dollar when dealing with Iran, all of Iran’s bank transactions using the dollar will be suspended, and no one will be able to buy the rial using US dollars. US banks and those using the American banking system will be prohibited from lending money to Iran or dealing with their counterparts in Iranian banks. US sanctions also contain bans on selling gold, iron, aluminium and even coal to Iran or importing Iranian goods to the US.

Iran economic failure will likely spark more civil unrest

Iran Focus

London, 2 August - The Iranian currency fell to a record low on Monday, just one week before the US begins re-imposing sanctions on Iran , which has sparked fears of prolonged economic turbulence and increased civil unrest.

As the market closed on Monday night, Iran’s rial was trading at 122,000 to the US dollar, which constitutes a rapid drop from Saturday when it was trading at 98,000. Many Iranians are already seeing their savings dwindle due to the failing economy and are rushing to buy hard currencies (US dollar/British pound) or gold, which are better able to retain value.
