first visit to Iraq as Iranian president

By Pooya Stone

Iran’s renewed embrace of Iraq, shows that the US sanctions on Iran are working, according to political scientist Dr Majid Rafizadeh.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited Iraq last week for the first time since becoming president in 2013 and this is a clear indication of how renewed US sanctions have damaged Iran because the mullahs are now desperate to find other countries willing to do business deals with the increasingly isolated Iran.

Hassan Rouhani's meeting with the Iraqi president

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is often portrayed as a reformist and a moderate by the western media, but his credentials have deteriorated during his two terms of office. He has presided over the execution of 4,000 people, many of them political prisoners and many of them women. These executions are often public. Iran has the highest rate of executions per-capita of any country in the world, and the UN has condemned the theocratic dictatorship that rules Iran no fewer than 65 times.

Iran-Backed Militia Profiting From Wartorn Iraq's Scrap Metal

Iran Focus

London, 13 Feb - Iran-backed Iraqi militia is seizing scrap metal from car bomb vehicle wrecks and other debris left by the war in Iraq in order to make a quick buck from scrap dealers and funnel the money back to the Iranian Regime.

Scrapyard owners, steel plant managers and lawmakers from Mosul said that the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) are making millions of dollars from wrecked cars, damaged weapons, water tanks, window frames, and whatever they can find to trade in.

London, 23 Feb - The Iranian government used George W. Bush and Barack Obama to promote its own interests and now Donald Trump is left to deal with the fallout.

Bush was warned that Iran was the major threat in the Middle East, not Iraq; that the mullahs would make life hell for US troops if he invaded Iran; and that Iran wanted to take control of Iraq. But why? Well, Iraq was home to a group exiled from Iran, the People’s Mujahadeen of Iran (PMOI/MEK), who were fighting for a free Iran.

Trump Vows to Keep Troops in Iraq to Watch Iran

Iran Focus

London, 4 Feb - Donald Trump has vowed to keep US troops in Iraq to watch Iran, according to comments he made in a CBS “Face the Nation” interview but denied wanting to strike or go to war with Iran.

Trump said: “One of the reasons I want to keep [the military base] is because I want to be looking a little bit at Iran because Iran is a real problem… This is what a lot of people don’t understand. We’re going to keep watching and we’re going to keep seeing and if there’s trouble, if somebody is looking to do nuclear weapons or other things, we’re going to know it before they do.”
