Supporters of the Iranian Resistance in the UK are holding a major rally this Saturday in London to show their support for the ongoing popular anti-regime uprising in Iran.

The Anglo-Iranian Communities and their supporters will call on the British Government to end the fatal policy of appeasement towards the ‘Iranian regime’. They will also urge Members of Parliament to adopt a firm policy that punishes the ‘mullahs’ for their ‘brutal crimes’ and recognises the right of the Iranian people to overthrow the regime and bring freedom and democracy to their country.

The demonstrators will also ask the British Government to translate its statements of concern into definite action by putting pressure on the Iranian authorities to end their most callous of activities; including the death penalty, arbitrary arrests, their warmongering, nuclear and ballistic missile projects and export of terrorism. One key way to do this would be conditioning relations with Iran on this.

Let’s not forget that Iran is the number one state sponsor of terrorism and the number one executioner per capita in the world. Their malign acts affect the whole world but their biggest victims are their own people, Iran watchers argue.

In Trafalgar Square on July 27, the Anglo-Iranians communities, supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK), will gather to begin their rally. They will be joined by cross-party MPs, renowned human rights advocates, and other dignitaries who will loudly and proudly make the case for supporting the Iranian people and their resistance over the mullahs and their regime, organisers said.

After the gathering in Trafalgar Square, which will feature speeches, as well as a number of street exhibitions and theatre denouncing the regime’s crimes and human rights violations, the crowd will hold a march.

This rally is the latest in a series of major demonstrations by Iranians and MEK supporters across the globe. Since the beginning of June, they’ve held rallies in Brussels, Washington DC, Berlin and Stockholm, but they also held an incredible five-day event at the MEK compound in Albania, called Ashraf 3, which was attended by many of the dignitaries who spoke at the rallies.

This all happened at around the same time that Iran’s malign behaviour in the Gulf, itself an attempt to divert attention from domestic protests, has attracted the West’s attention and condemnation.
