Tehran, Oct. 4 – The executive director of the Khaneyeh Karegar (House of Workers) in an interview with the Iranian state-run wire service admitted that hundreds of thousands of workers are presently unemployed.
Ali Tarshavand accused senior officials of the Iranian governments inner circle of being at the centre of enormous corruption.
He added, Enormous widespread corruption has crippled Irans industrial sector as well as the majority of smaller commercial industries such as textile factories and shoe factories. Government officials are turning a blind eye to this fraud.
He also accused the government of not having introduced a policy to combat economical corruption.
He stated that mass unemployment among workers in Iran is as a result of such corruption at the highest levels of power within the ruling establishment. The ever-rising unemployment levels in Iran have brought about poverty in many Iranian households.
Iran announced this week that it was privatizing major economical sectors including natural gas production. Many Iranians fear that this will lead to more corruption by wealthy individuals within the regime.
