Tehran, Iran, Feb. 04 – Iran claimed on Monday that it had begun to produce a new generation of fighter jets equipped with radar-evading systems.

The commander of Iran’s Air Force Brigadier General Ahmad Miqani said Iran had completed designing the fifth-generation fighter jets and production had begun in its early stages. His remarks were carried by state television’s website.

Iran is now self-sufficient in manufacturing air defence and radar systems required for its defence, Miqani said.

The report claimed Iran had successfully designed, produced and test-flied the domestically-built fighter jet Azarakhsh (Lightning) and its new generation, the single-seater fighter jet Saeqeh (Thunderbolt).
