TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) — Iran on Tuesday summoned German charge d'affaires to Tehran over German official's "meddling remarks" on Iran's June presidential election, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.
"Following the meddling remarks of German deputy foreign minister concerning Iran's presidential election, the German charge d'affaires to Tehran was summoned to Iran's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday and was strongly protested over the unusual and non-diplomatic remarks of its deputy foreign minister," the report said.
The report did not specify the names of the "German deputy foreign minister" and the charge d'affaires.
According to the report, an Iranian Foreign Ministry official expressed in a meeting with the German charge d'affaires Iran's concerns over the Islamophobia trends in German society and advised the German government to avoid "preparing the ground for encouraging such radical views" in Germany.
For her part, the German charge d'affaires said that she will inform her country's officials of Iran's concerns.
In recent comments, the German Foreign Ministry has raised doubts over the health of Iran's June 12 presidential elections in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gained a big victory against its reformist rivals.
