Tehran, May 26 – From the Grapevine…
Residents of the capital’s southern Toopkhaneh and western Geisha districts chanted ‘Allah-o Akbar’ (God is Greatest) from their rooftops Tuesday night in chorus in protest to the country’s rulers.
In a related development, over the past two days political activists in south Tehran distributed thousands of leaflets and wrote political graffiti on walls in Nazi-Abad and Hezar Dastgah districts and in Mashhadi, Ahadi, and Samani streets and 22nd Bahman Park, urging people to join protests that have been called for June to coincide with the anniversary of last year’s protests.
One slogan written on the wall read: “June is the month of fighting, [Supreme Leader] Khamenei is shaking; don’t forget 10-20 June”.
Iran’s main organised opposition has called for nationwide protests from 10 to 20 June.
