Tehran, Jun. 04 – In apparent defiance of repressive measures put in place in the capital, some residents in Moniriyeh and Abu Saeed districts in central Tehran late on Friday chanted “Allah o-Akbar (God is the greatest)”, “Death to Dictator”, and “Death to Khamenei”, referring to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, from rooftops.
Similar slogans were chanted on campus and in the dormitory of the Free University of Shiraz, southern Iran, students told Iran Focus by telephone.
In a speech in south Tehran on Friday, Khamenei issued a stern warning to opposition activists not to continue their challenge to the ruling system.
The opposition has called for protests from 10-20 June to mark the anniversary of the nationwide uprising last year.
