Tehran, Jun. 11 – On the eve of the anniversary of last summer’s anti-government protests, Iran’s Channel 3 state television aired a 50-minute program on the murder of Neda Agha Soltan, entitled “Intersection.”
Neda became a symbol of the opposition movement last June when she was shot and killed by a government militiaman.
The state television report on Friday however pinned blame for Neda’s killing on the main Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin (PMOI).
It showed the blurred picture of a woman whom it alleged was responsible for the killing and whom the presenter claimed to be affiliated with the PMOI.
The television station also aired a picture of opposition leader Maryam Rajavi, claiming that the PMOI carries out operations every year on 20 June.
