Tehran, Jul. 08 – As the strike by merchants in Tehran’s grand Bazaar continued into its second day, Wednesday night, chants of “Allah-o Akbar” (or God is the greatest) and “death to Khamenei” (Iran’s Supreme Leader) could be heard in many parts of the capital.
There were similar chants in south Tehran’s Toopkhaneh district, near the bazaar and in Ekbatan township, west Tehran. Chants of “Allah-o Akbar” could also be heard in Jomhouri and Mossadeq streets, all the way from north Tehran’s Tajrish Square to Rah-e Ahan, south of the capital.
Students in Tehran and Melli universities have called for protest gatherings.
