AFP: Bolivian President Evo Morales was in Tehran on Monday on a three-day visit aimed at securing Iranian investment in the South American country, the English-language Press TV reported.

TEHRAN, October 25, 2010 (AFP) – Bolivian President Evo Morales was in Tehran on Monday on a three-day visit aimed at securing Iranian investment in the South American country, the English-language Press TV reported.

Morales, who arrived late on Sunday, was scheduled to hold meetings with Iranian officials, including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The two governments are expected to discuss details of a planned 287 million dollar Iranian investment in Bolivia’s minerals and textiles sectors, the television said on its website.

They are also expected to sign agreements covering technology transfer, cement production, industrial machinery and food, the report said.

It is the second visit to Iran by Morales in as many years. Ahmadinejad travelled to Bolivia in 2007 for the visit by an Iranian president.

During his trip, the two governments agreed joint projects worth 1.1 billion dollars over five years.

The visit by Morales comes less than a week after Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez made a two-day visit.
