Reuters: U.S. President Barack Obama called Chinese President Hu Jintao on Sunday night to discuss peace on the Korean Peninsula after North Korea shelled a South Korean island last month, the White House said in a statement.
WASHINGTON Dec 6 (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama called Chinese President Hu Jintao on Sunday night to discuss peace on the Korean Peninsula after North Korea shelled a South Korean island last month, the White House said in a statement.
Obama urged China to work with the United States and others to “send a clear message to North Korea that its provocations are unacceptable,” the White House said.
Obama also discussed Iran with Hu, the statement said.
