Tehran, Iran, Jul. 12 – Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared the Jewish state of Israel as the largest and most significant threat to the region, urging all countries in the Middle East to do their utmost to contain this “threat”.
The state run news agency FARS reported that during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Tehran on Monday Ahmadinejad stated: “Effort should be made to take all measures to contain this fake regime”.
“Any move in line with the Zionist regime’s goals and objectives means committing suicide”, he added.
Ahmadinejad went on to say that the US was doing its best to stir up sectarian and ethnic troubles in the region particularly between Sunni and Shiite Muslims.
He urged regional states to stay united to combat the “threat of interference from foreign forces”.
“When aliens find a foothold in the internal affairs of the regional countries, it will definitely be harmful to the interest of all the regional countries”, Ahmadinejad stated.
