Tehran, Iran, Sep. 21 – Iran’s Defence minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Monday that Russia needs to fulfil its earlier pledges to supply S-300 missiles to Iran.
“We still believe that the agreement should be implemented based on its articles and this is an independent matter which has nothing to do with other issues”, Vahidi stated. His remarks were carried by the official news agency IRNA.
Vahidi declared that Russia needed to “adopt an appropriate approach” that would result in the complete implementation and delivery of the S-300 missile systems.
The contract is estimated to be worth 800 million dollars.
Iran said in August that it would lodge a legal complaint against Moscow over the cancellation of the missile contract, while Moscow insists that international sanctions against Iran meant it had no choice but to cancel the long-agreed delivery of ground-to-air-missiles.
