MEPs: “no illusions” about “destructive” Iran

London, 6 Jul – Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament, Svetoslav Malinov, said that he and his colleagues were “under no illusions” that there had been any positive changes in the nature of the Iranian regime.

Calling the mood of MEPs “indignant”, as they observed the Iranian regime’s support for “the dictator, Assad,” Mr Malinov said Iran “played a very destructive role in the region.”

So concerned about the ‘dire’ lack of freedom in Iran were Mr Malinov and his peers in the European Parliament, that 270 of them had signed a declaration that the EU must found its relationship with Iran on improvements in human rights, he said.

There was steadfast support for the Iranian opposition in the European Parliament, Mr Malinov declared, and opposition leader Mrs  Maryam Rajavi was a frequent visitor upon whom they depended for information about Iran, he said.

Mr Malinov was looking forward to the “huge” rally planned in Paris. The Free Iran gathering will be held on July 9. The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) will be joined in Paris by leaders from across the globe as well as by tens of thousands of its supporters.
