Tehran Criticises Saudi Prince for Attending Iranian Resistance Rally

Iran Focus
London, 12 Jul – A Saudi Prince attended the Iranian Opposition rally in Paris, this past weekend, which has drawn criticism from the Iranian Regime.

On Sunday, the Iranian Regime’s News Agency (IRNA) quoted an unnamed regime official who said that Prince Turki al-Faisal’s participation in the rally was an example of Saudi Arabia’s “political impudence and stupidity”.

They even accused Saudi Arabia of sponsoring terrorism, despite the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) being labelled a terrorist force by the US government, while the Resistance is not.

Prince Turki, the former director of Saudi intelligence, showed his support for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and on the Saudi-owned broadcaster Al-Arabiya, Prince Turki told the rally attendees that the Iranian government needs to be overthrown.

He said: “Your legitimate struggle against the [Iranian] regime will achieve its goal, sooner or later. I, too, want the fall of the regime.”

Despite currently holding no official capacity within the Saudi administration, Prince Turki’s comments are thought to reflect those of the government as a whole.

Iran has often meddled in the affairs of other middle-eastern states, including sponsoring terrorist organisations like Hezbollah in Yemen or supporting the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in his persecution of the Syrian people.
