TEHRAN – Three coaches crashed in northwestern Iran on Friday, killing 22 people and injuring 38, state television reported.
A coach from Istanbul to Tehran tried to overtake a bus travelling from Syria but smashed head-on into an oncoming bus, the report said.
It was not immediately clear if those killed were all Iranians.
Iran has one of the highest road fatality rates in the world, averaging five deaths every two hours.
