Tehran, Iran, Sep. 17 – Some 300 workers from a tyre factory in Tehran protested on Saturday outside their place of work against their irregular work patterns.

The workers all from Lastik Alborz claimed that they faced repeated threats of being laid off. For at least the past four months, they had been forced to work in irregular patterns, they said, adding that on some occasions the factory owners would tell them that their was no work scheduled for long periods of time.

The 300-strong crowd also complained that a 10 million euro loan that their employers had taken from Europe had not been spent to pay their salaries.
