Tehran, Iran, Nov. 05 Irans ultra-conservative Guardian Council, the countrys highest vetting organ, is to have a new spokesman, Mehr News Agency, run by the office of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reported on Saturday.
Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaii, the powerful councils current deputy chief, will be taking over the post from Gholam-Hossein Elham who is expected to receive the key post of Chief of Staff for the Irans hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The 12-man Guardian Council is made up of six Shiite clerics and six lay legal experts. It has veto power over all legislation and rigorously vets candidates in all national elections.
