Tehran, Iran, May 15 Irans former President Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani accused the West on Monday of launching a psychological war against the Islamic Republic, a reference to the effort by the European Union and United States to convince the United Nations Security Council to adopt a binding resolution against Tehran over its suspected nuclear weapons activities.
Currently, the Wests propaganda machinery has begun an unprecedented psychological war against us, Rafsanjani, who currently chairs the State Expediency Council, told a gathering at Tehran University. His comments were carried by the state-run news agency ISNA.
But, our nation will not flinch, he said, adding that Tehran would stand firm and give its enemies a more powerful response than their threats.
EU foreign ministers will meet in Brussels on Monday to discuss an offer of a package of incentives for Iran to abandon its uranium enrichment activities.
