AFP: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Ecuador late Sunday, as he continued his Latin American tour aimed at winning new friends for his beleaguered country. QUITO, Jan 14, 2007 (AFP) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Ecuador late Sunday, as he continued his Latin American tour aimed at winning new friends for his beleaguered country.

Ahmadinejad will be a guest of honor Monday at the inauguration of leftist Ecuadoran President Rafael Correa.

The Iranian president flew in at shortly after 0300 GMT (Monday) from Nicaragua, where he held talks with newly-elected Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.
As part of his tour, Ahmadinejad has already visited Venezuela. He also plans to make a stop in Bolivia.
