Iran Focus: Since 3:00 am on Wednesday, State Security Forces and the paramilitary Bassij have been out in forces in most of the Capital’s streets, including Vali-e Asr, Rezai-ha (Haft-e Tir), Narmak and Pirouzi streets.

Tehran, 26 Dec. – Since 3:00 am, State Security Forces and the paramilitary Bassij have been out in forces in most of the Capital’s streets, including Vali-e Asr, Rezai-ha (Haft-e Tir), Narmak and Pirouzi streets. Tomorrow marks the third anniversary of 27 December 2009 (coinciding with the Shiite holy day of Ashura), when tens of thousands of people staged a major anti-government uprising in Tehran and other cities.

The security forces were also out in force in Azadi Street and Khosh-Behboodi intersection.
