Tehran, Iran, Nov. 24 – A first visit by Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Brazil has ended with the two nations vowing to develop ties.
"The agreements signed between the two countries would pave the way for the booming of relations between Iran and Brazil in the near future", the state-run news agency Fars quoted Ahmadinejad as saying following three hours of closed-door talks with his Brazilian counterpart.
Iranian and Brazilian officials have also announced the signing of thirteen cooperation agreements in a number of areas, including sport, science, culture and trade.
Ahmadinejad arrived in the Brazilian capital on Monday on the second leg of his five-nation tour of Africa and South America.
The visit, is the first by an Iranian President since the 1979 revolution.
