Tehran, Iran, Sep. 12 Two Iranian Kurds were arrested and taken to unknown locations by Irans State Security Forces (SSF) in the western province of Kurdistan for their opposition to the Iranian government, a Kurdish opposition group announced on Monday.
The two individuals were identified as Azad Lotfpouri and Rahim Shilani, according to the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan. Lotfpouri, a student and activist from the city of Sanandaj, took part as a speaker during an anti-government protest in front of the citys governors office. Shilani is from the volatile Kurdish town of Boukan.
Kurdistan Province has been a hotbed of anti-government protests and clashes for the past months. Iranian authorities have launched a crackdown on Kurdish areas to quell the unrest.
