Tehran, Iran, Jan. 25 Irans top Islamic judge said on Wednesday that the European Union was losing ground in its push to refer the Islamic Republics nuclear program to the United Nations Security Council after French President Jacques Chirac threatened that France might use its nuclear might to respond to a major terror attack on its soil.
Irans Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi told reporters that the stance taken by certain European officials about a nuclear war showed the EUs weakness regarding other states rights to develop nuclear energy.
Shahroudi said that the Islamic Iranian nation believed nuclear capabilities to be Irans right.
The EU along with the United States believe that Tehran is pursuing a covert nuclear weapons program under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy production.
