Tehran, Iran, Jun. 26 – Iranian authorities hanged a man in public in the southern city of Shiraz, a state-run daily reported on Sunday.

The man, identified as 22-year-old Mohsen Najmi, had been convicted of murder, the daily Qods wrote.

Iran’s state-run media have reported at least 85 hangings since January 1, 2006. There are also a substantial number of unreported secret executions in Iran every year.
