MUNICH, Germany (AFP) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday urged tougher sanctions against Iran if US President Barack Obama's new diplomatic efforts fail to convince Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment.
"We need to be ready for tougher sanctions," she said at a major security conference in Munich, with US Vice President Joseph Biden listening. "It is a must to stop Iran having nuclear weapons."
