London, Aug. 29 – Senior diplomats from the European trio of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom will meet in Paris on Wednesday to discuss their options in the wake of Irans resumption of its nuclear activities, the German news agency, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, reported on Monday.
The talks between the EU-3 will not include Iranian officials since Tehran decided to unilaterally restart suspended nuclear fuel cycle activities, a process which could lead to the development of an atomic bomb. The move was considered a violation of the November 2004 Paris agreement between Tehran and the EU-3.
DPA quoted European diplomats as saying that the EU-3 would not make any decisions vis-à-vis their policy towards Irans nuclear file until they have received the latest status report by the International Atomic Energy Agency, due on September 3.
On Monday, French President Jacques Chirac again warned Tehran that it would face UN Security Council referral if it did not halt its nuclear activities. Chirac urged Iran to return to the negotiation table.
