TEHRAN – Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, speaker of Iran’s Majlis (parliament) said Wednesday that Iran is determined to make further progress in the field of nuclear technology, the official IRNA news agency reported.
“The Iranian youth are determined to create further progress in the field of nuclear technology in the coming years,” Adel was quoted as saying at a ceremony of the new academic year of the University of Imam Hossein, which is affiliated to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
“The progress Iran has made in the field of nuclear technology was the major cause of the protests launched by the enemies of Islam,” Adel added.
Self-reliance and self-respect were the keys to attain any positive progress and that no society could ever make success without relying on its own capabilities, Adel concluded.
Iran, being accused by Washington of developing nuclear weapons secretly, is trying to clear itself and claiming its right to get access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
The International Atomic Energy Agency last month adopted a resolution, urging Iran to suspend all activities related to uranium enrichment, a step necessary for producing nuclear weapons. Iran rejected the resolution and termed it as “illegal,” saying that it would never give up its right on peaceful nuclear technology.
