WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama’s top national security aide briefed King Abdullah during a trip to Saudi Arabia in late September about an alleged Iranian plot against the Saudi ambassador in the United States, a senior U.S. official said on Tuesday.
National security adviser Tom Donilon and the Saudi monarch discussed the investigation, which led to charges on Tuesday against two men whom U.S. authorities linked to the Iranian government, during a one-day visit, the official said.
