Iranian students vow to fight Israel in Lebanon

AFP: Around 50 young Iranian Islamists gathered at Tehran’s main cemetery on Wednesday with the avowed aim of leaving for Lebanon to fight against Israel. TEHRAN, July 26, 2006 (AFP) – Around 50 young Iranian Islamists gathered at Tehran’s main cemetery on Wednesday with the avowed aim of leaving for Lebanon to fight against Israel.

At the behest of a hitherto unknown group calling itself the Student Movement for Justice, the youths chanted slogans including “The army of Mohammad is arriving” and “Qods (Jerusalem), Hezbollah is arriving”.

“It is a duty to go. Innocents are being attacked and calling for help,” said a young theologian, Javad Rahbari, aged 23.

“We are going to leave by car for the frontier with Turkey. If they let us cross the frontiers, we will then go to Lebanon by road,” he added.

“Most of the volunteers have written their wills and are ready for martyrdom. We have not had special military training. But we’re told that Hezbollah is going to train us for a week once we arrive in Lebanon,” he said.
