London, 26 Feb - Several top Iranian officials, including the vice president for women's affairs, have publically questioned the decision by a state-run broadcaster to air a programme that risked normalising domestic violence and encouraging victims to stay in abusive relationships.

The Formula One show last week aired an interview with a self-described abusive husband and his wife, where the man explained that despite 20 years of constant abuse on his part and 27 attempts by his wife to divorce him, the couple has stayed married.

London, 13 Jan - Iran faces many crises at the moment, ranging from US sanctions that are crippling the economy to mass protests against the ruling mullahs to a drought that threatens the lives of every Iranian. But, according to the mullahs, none is more dangerous to their continued rule than women removing the mandatory hijab.

They even believe that the anti-hijab protests that many Iranian women have taken part in over the past year are part of a plot by the West to bring about the collapse of the ruling theocracy.

London, 20 Dec - The death of four six-year-old girls during a fire at a school in Zahedan, Iran, on December 18, has sent the nation into mourning.

The fire began after one student tripped over an oil heater whilst playing during a break and quickly spread throughout the school. Most of the 59 students were rescued by neighbours and school staff before firefighters arrived, but many students have been injured.

London, 10 Jan - A woman who accused Iranian MP Salman Khodadadi of rape was found dead in her home in East Azarbaijan Province on Sunday, with the cause of death as yet unknown, but many are speculating foul play.

Zahra Navidpour, 28, had told the Human Rights Activists News Agency that she received constant threats on her life from Khodadadi, the chair of the parliament’s Social Commission, and those close to him, some of which were recorded

London, 7 Nov - Two young woman filed a complaint against Iran’s Morality Police for beating them, because their head covering was deemed ‘insufficient’.

State-run IRNA news agency reported that their attorney, Mohammad Hossein Aghasi, said,“The 9th Branch of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Armed Forces Judiciary Committee overturned the case, arguing that there was not sufficient evidence.”

Aghasi tweeted on November 2nd, that the Armed Forces Judiciary Committee rejected the complaints of the students.
