London, Apr. 25 – Russia is opposed to Iran obtaining the know-how needed to become a nuclear power, Russian news agencies reported.

“We are categorically against proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and against Iran having the technical know-how that would allow it to become a nuclear power”, the news agency RIA Novosti quoted a source at the Kremlin as saying.

Moscow “does not want Iran to have any technical knowledge that would allow it to become a nuclear power”, the news agency Interfax reported on Monday.

On Tuesday, Interfax reported that Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov had said that Iran’s nuclear standoff would be high on the agenda of Russian-German consultations to be held in Tomsk on April 26-27.
