Tehran, Iran, Jan. 20 – A senior Iranian official bitterly warned United States President George W. Bush that he would be unsuccessful in forcing Tehran to abandon its nuclear activities.

“Bush must take his wish for the Iranian nation to abandon peaceful nuclear energy to the grave”, state media quoted on Saturday Iran’s Chief State Prosecutor Ayatollah Qorban-Ali Dorri Najaf-Abadi as having said during his Friday prayers sermon in the city of Shahre-Rey.

“The Iranian nation believes that obtaining nuclear energy is its inalienable right. It will not forgo any efforts to achieve this desire”.

Shiite cleric Dorri Najaf-Abadi was for several years the chief of the theocratic state’s secret police, known as the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). He resigned when an MOIS top deputy was implicated in the murder of dozens of dissident Iranian intellectuals and writers.
