TEHRAN, Iran Iran is acknowledging it’s planning to process tons of raw uranium that could be used to make nuclear weapons.
A U-N report obtained Wednesday says Iran plans to enrich 40 tons of uranium which could be used to make nuclear warheads or to generate electricity. The report doesn’t specify what Iran plans to do with the processed uranium.
Secretary of State Colin Powell says it shows Iran’s concerted effort to make a nuclear weapon. He says he may urge the U-N nuclear watchdog agency to refer Iran to the U-N security council for possible sanctions.
Iran says it told the U-N long ago about the plans. It also says the U-S is sensationalizing the matter.
